THE COMPETITION
Created in 2001 by oenologists from the Centre-East region, this competition has become an unmissable event over the years. Philippe Bachy, then president of the region, was a visionary who convinced his members, the interprofessional organisation and its general delegate Michel Rougier of the merits of this initiative aimed at promoting the quality and image of Beaujolais wines. Since then, the competition has sought to reflect the excellence of the expertise of oenologists, producers and merchants in the production of wines, as well as the commitment of an entire industry. Raising awareness is just as important.
Held on the third weekend of November, on the eve of the release of the Beaujolais Nouveaux wines, the event is enjoying growing success: nearly 300 samples are tasted by some 80 tasters, and 30% of the wines presented win a medal – Gold Grand Prix du Trophée, Gold or Silver.
